Trans Adriatic off-shore sailing from Croatia to Italy
Mediterrana offer Trans - Adriatic sea cruise from Jezera in Murter island to Vieste in Gargano peninsula in Italy. After arrival in Vieste in Italy you stay one day in Vieste and after that you sail to Jezera in Murter island ...
If you had the chance to sail the waters of Lastovo island or Vis island you surely
asked yourself how many miles there are to reach the other side of the
Adriatic sea to reach Italy ...
Lastovo isalnd is the closest island to Italy of all of Croatian islands. Lastovo island is only 59 miles
distant from Italy. It's not that far - this thought
will certainly cross your mind.
However ... if you wish to see it for yourself and experience the crossing the Adriatic sea, there is the opportunity to
embark on Elan 45 and launch into a winter crossing of the Adriatic sea.
The cruise starts in Jezera on Murter
Island and the finish is in a small picturesque town called Vieste,
situated on the very tip of Gargano peninsula.
Before you leave Croatian territorial waters, you will have to do the border
crossing formalities at Ubli on Lastovo island and then you are off.
Sailing course
is 207, the winds and sea rough as always in winter ... Adriatic winter
is characterised by South or North wind, you will see which one will
come your way.
You will spend one day in a lovely small marina in Vieste, and after that you sail back to Jezera in Murter island in Croatia.
When do you arrive in Italy? It depends on the wind. Return to Jezera in Murter island? Friday
evening or Saturday morning. One week of sailing, the crew organised in
so-called "guardias" (some "sleep" while others sail), cooking in interesting conditions ...
You will cross the Adriatic Sea twice, feel this power of winter winds
and waves, experience the lonely Palagruža and maybe even cast the
anchor there and take a shelter on its lee.
After this cruise you will
surely not consider the Adriatic Sea to be a small, calm pond.
The route can always be modified depending on weather conditions, but we never give up the crossing.
Note: considering the season a winter sailing waterproof jacket and rubber boots are necessary equipment!
