DALAMAN is a town situated on the southwestern coast of Turkey, in the Muğla Province. The town is known for its international airport (Dalaman Airport) which serves as a gateway to the tourists who visit this part of Turkey every year, heading especially to seaside resorts to the west and east of Dalaman such as Marmaris, Gocek, Fethiye, Köyceğiz, Dalyan, Ölüdeniz and Hisarönü. Dalaman International Terminal, which has a yearly passenger capacity of 10 million, has an hourly capacity of up to 4,000 passengers and 5,000 pieces of luggage through 60 check-in counters. Arriving passengers can get in touch with the tour operators at the receiving counters after a quick passport control. There are historical ruins almost everywhere in Dalaman. The most important archeological ruins, found most densely in the villages of Kapıdağı, Şerefler, Kayadibi, Çöğmen, Gürleyik and Bozbel, are rock tombs, forts, water cisterns, shrines, antique cities, bridges, monasteries and ancient water mills. Dalaman River is also a favourite stopping place for the adventure enthusiasts. |
