DALYAN is small town on the south-western coast of Turkey located between Marmaris and Fethiye in the province of Mugla. The population is 5.134 inhabitants. It is set in the center of a broad delta whose natural beauty remains unspoiled and is protected. The area is famous as a breeding ground for the endangered loggerhead sea turtle or Caretta Caretta. During the months of June and September daily highs are up to 33°C and nightly lows rarely going below 18°C. The rainfall is rare. The highest temperature in winter is around 11°C and nightly lows average 3°C. Exceptionally heavy rain can be expected from November to March. There are also many therapeutic hot springs in Dalyan.
The waters which contain radioactive elements and shulphure are believed to cure rheumatism, skin, liver, spleen and bowel complaints, as well as being beneficial for nervous and digestive disorders. The Sultaniye Thermal Bath which is famous in Turkey, the water is 40 degrees C. The water used since Hellenistic times. The international airport of Dalaman is located 25km southwest from Dalyan.
